Tüpraş increased its crude processing capacity to 30 million tonnes as a result of its modernization and revamp investments
Tüpraş, Turkey's leading industrial corporation, continues its investments in alignment with its strategies to enhance energy efficiency, production capacity, and profitability. As a result of applications submitted after the completion of modernization and debottlenecking investments since 2017, the annual crude oil processing capacity of our refineries has been revised to 30 million tonnes, up from 28.1 million tonnes, by EMRA.
Following these modernization efforts, Tüpraş has successfully completed license amendments for its refineries:
- Izmir Refinery’s crude oil processing capacity increased from 11 million to 11.9 million tonnes
- Izmit Refinery’s crude oil processing capacity increased from 11 million to 11.3 million tonnes
- Kırıkkale Refinery’s crude oil processing capacity increased from 5 million to 5.4 million tonnes
- Batman Refinery’s crude oil processing capacity increased from 1.1 million to 1.4 million tonnes
Emphasizing that the health and safety of workers are essential for the company's sustainable growth, İbrahim Yelmenoğlu, General Manager of Tüpraş, stated, "As Tüpraş, the leader of industrialization in Turkey, we continue our development with a strong and dynamic structure, as well as modernization investments. In 2018 alone, Tüpraş invested a total of $199 million, bringing its cumulative investment amount to $6.5 billion since privatization, with $6 billion of that investment dedicated to the refining sector.
