DANGEROUS CARGO HANDLING GUIDE
11.3 Million Tons
İzmit Refinery began production in 1961 with capacity to process 1 million tons/year crude oil. As a result of significant capacity increases and the conversion unit investments over the years, the Refinery's design capacity was registered at 11.3 million tons/year. Producing to Euro V standards, İzmit Refinery located in a consumption center, accounting for 33% of Turkey's consuption of petroleum products.
The Residuum Upgrading Facility, in İzmit Refinery was mechanically completed at the end of 2014. The unit convert 4.2 million tons of black products intro approximately 3.5 million tons of high-value, environment friendly white products which meet EU standards, mostly diesel, gasoline and LPG. After the Fuel Oil Conversion Facility was commissioned, İzmit Refinery reached one of the highest conversion rates in the world, with a Nelson Complexity value of 14.5.
2.5 Million m3
A total of 6.0 million tons of products were sold from the İIn 2022, the İzmir Refinery achieved an 83% capacity utilization rate with a total charge of 9.9 million tonnes, including crude oil and semi-finished products, and a total of 8.7 million tonnes of products were sold, 6.2 million tonnes of which were sold to the domestic market.
11.9 Million Tons
With the aim of meeting Turkey's growing requirement for petroleum product, İzmir Refinery was brought intro operation in 1972. The refinery, which stardet production with an annual crude oil processing capacity of 3 million tons is now registered as having an annual refining capacity of 11.9 million tons following significant capacity increases and unit modernizations carried out over the years
The İzmir refinery, which has a Nelson Complexity Index of 7.66, is the only refinery in Turkey to have a machine oil production complex, with a 400,000 tons/year capacity.
1.3 Million m3
In 2022, 4.2 million tonnes of petroleum products were produced at the refinery with LPG, gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen and products which will be used as charge for the Fuel Oil conversion project being the main products from the refinery. The total product sales made to meet the consumption needs of Central Anatolia stood at 4.2 million tonnes as of the end of the year.
5.4 Million Tons
Established in 1986 to meet the petroleum demands of the Ankara, Central Anatolia, Eastern Mediterranean and Eastern Black Sea regions, the Kırıkkale Refinery has become a facility with mid level complexity by Mediterranean standards with the addition of hydrocracker, isomerization, diesel desulphurization and CCR reformer units. Kırıkkale Refinery has an annual 5.4 million ton crude oil processing capacity; its crude oil supply is realized via BOTAŞ’s Ceyhan Terminal and the Ceyhan-Kırıkkale pipeline.
With a Nelson complexity of 6.32, the Kırıkkale Refinery has Turkey’s largest road tanker filling capacity.
299 Thousand m3
With the advantage of its geographical proximity to Turkey’s own domestic heavy crude oil resources, Batman Refinery is structured in a simple configuration to process this crude oil. The Refinery has a Nelson Complexity Index of 1.83. A total of 674,000 tonnes of crude oil were processed at the Batman Refinery in 2022, with 640,000 tonnes of product sales realized.
1.4 Million Tons
Commissioned in 1955 with a crude oil processing capacity of 330 thousand tons, Batman Refinery was the first refinery to be founded in Turkey. Following the commissioning of a new crude oil processing unit in 1972, Batman Refinery's annual crude oil processing capacity 1.4 million tons.
The refinery has the advantage of being located near domestic sources of crude oil; however, since it does not have upgrading units, its configuration is simple and its Nelson complexity index is 1.83.
