Körfez Ulaştırma increases the range of products it carries with its new wagon investment
Körfez Ulaştırma AŞ, a subsidiary of Tüpraş, has sprinted in transportation of other goods in addition to fuel oil transportation. Preparing to carry loads such as spare parts between Tüpraş refineries with the RGNS wagons, the company diversifies the range of products that it carries with petroleum coke container transportation, in addition to safe transportation of hazardous substances.
Körfez Ulaştırma AŞ, the subsidiary of Tüpraş in railway transportation, has diversified its transportation operations by investing in a type of wagon other than tank wagons for the first time. Aiming to move forward fast with its investment in 35 RGNS wagons for a new type of transportation in addition to fuel oil transportation, Körfez Ulaştırma will diversify its range of products by carrying different loads such as spare parts between Tüpraş refineries, apart from hazardous substances.
Article 6 of “Regulations on Transportation of Hazardous Substances by Railway”, published by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, requires having additional railcars (safety cars) that do not carry any hazardous substance between locomotive and rolling stocks carrying fuel oil. It will be possible to carry any type of load by RGNS wagons, which are intended to be used for several purposes. These new wagons will not only be used as safety cars but will also be used to carry non-hazardous loads in suitable tracks.
Körfez Ulaştırma, which has been performing these operations by the wagons rented from TCDD until today, will now be capable of transporting different sizes of containers easily thanks to its investment. Availability of special containers in addition to emergency response equipment in new wagons will allow for transporting petroleum coke, materials, and spare parts between Tüpraş refineries.
Körfez Ulaştırma AŞ is the first operator that has established a Safety Management System and holds the first “Safety Certificate” among Railway Train Operators.
