Naz İrem Türkmen, one of “Young Musicians on World Stages”, won the first prize in International Grumiaux Violin Competition

Naz İrem Türkmen, one of the young talents of “Young Musicians on World Stages” project, continuing with the support of Tüpraş and vision and leadership of Güher and Süher Pekinel, won the first prize in the worldwide known 12th International Grumiaux Violin Competition. This is the first grand prize won by an 11-13 age group musician from Turkey in International Grumiaux Violin Competition.

Naz İrem Türkmen, aged 12, who participated in International Grumiaux Violin Competition in Brussels, one of the most important music competitions of the world, won the first prize in 11-13 age category with her outstanding performance.

Türkmen, one of the young talents in “Young Musicians on World Stages” project that was initiated by Güher and Süher Pekinel sisters in 2010 and continuing with the support of Tüpraş since 2013, is the first Turkish musician to win the first prize in this age group in International Grumiaux Violin Competition.

Naz İrem Türkmen was born in Istanbul on 14 July 2006. She started her violin education in Istanbul State Conservatory and she studied with Seda Subaşı, Dania Kainova and Kirill Troussev. She currently continues her education with Prof. Sonja Korkeala in Munich.

  • Odessa International Violin Competition – Under 17 Junior Category Grand Prize and Special Prize for Exceptional Artists Personality awards (2018 – Ukraine)
  • 2nd Ilona Feher International Violin Competition – Prix d’excellence (2018 - Hungary)

About Young Musicians on World Stages project:

“Young Musicians on World Stages” project, which is supported by Tüpraş in accordance with its corporate responsibility project, is being implemented with the aim to transfer 40 years of knowledge and visionary experience of our worldwide known pianists, Güher & Süher Pekinel, to young musicians. Highly talented young musicians aging between 12 and 23 years old, selected by Pekinel sisters from conservatories in various regions of Anatolia, are continuing on their development and education under the supervision of trainers, who are experts in their fields, in the most prestigious music schools of the world with the highest quality instruments provided as a part of their scholarship. 20 highly talented students have received scholarships and the education of 10 students still continues with “Young Musicians on World Stages” project, which was started in 2010 and is still continuing with the sponsorship of Tüpraş since 2013.
