Tüpraş Won 2 Awards in Industrial Energy Efficiency Competition

Tüpraş, with the aim of using energy in the most efficient way for fuel production, achieved notable success by winning two awards in the "Industrial Energy Efficiency Project Competition" at the 10th Energy Efficiency Forum and Fair, organized by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

The 10th Energy Efficiency Forum and Fair took place at the Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center on April 11-12, 2019, and the winners of the Industrial Energy Efficiency Project Awards were announced during the Energy Efficiency Forum, which is one of Turkey's largest and most important events focusing on energy efficiency. Tüpraş not only secured the first prize but also received the Special Jury Award for its outstanding projects in energy efficiency strategies.

Tüpraş, in its pursuit of using energy efficiently for fuel production, not only managed to reduce costs by decreasing energy consumption in its refineries but also integrated its objective to minimize environmental impacts into its work culture. As a result of these improvements, the energy intensity value, which measures energy efficiency in operations, continuously decreased from 119.1 in 2008 to 99.1 in 2018.

The company achieved remarkable results with its "Energy Saving with U-7000 Revamp" project for Izmir Refinery, for which it was awarded the first prize in the competition. This project resulted in savings of 70.1 million TL in a year, along with a reduction of 298,892 Gcal in energy consumption and 96,841 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Additionally, Tüpraş saved 24.5 million TL annually and reduced energy consumption by 192,520 Gcal and greenhouse gas emissions by 44,429 tons per year through its "Process Units Energy Roadmap" project for İzmit Refinery, which earned the Special Jury Award. To put these achievements in perspective, the energy saved is equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 56,484 households for heating, and the reduction in carbon emissions is equivalent to planting 21,733 trees.

Arda Yıldırım, İzmir Refinery Manager, received the first prize in the SENVER 3 category, and Metin Tüfekçioğlu, İzmit Refinery Manager, received the Special Jury Award from Murat Kalsın, the Chairman of the Energy Efficiency Association.
