Tüpraş, celebrating May 19th, the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day with kites since 2010, has colored the sky with the employees of Izmir Refinery and their kids and the people of Aliağa.

Erhan Günay, Aliağa District’s Governor also attended the Kites Festival, organized in Avcı Ramadan Park. Almost 700 people, composed of the families of Tüpraş’s employees and the locals of Aliağa, enjoyed flying a kite to the full, in company with animations played throughout the day during the event, where hundreds of kites with the logo of Happy Wastes enlivened the skies.

The “Happy Wastes Kites Festival” is organized as a part of “Happy Wastes in Aliağa” Package Wastes Parsing Movement, a social responsibility project organized voluntarily by the employees of Tüpraş Izmir Refinery. The project aims at reaching preschool and primary school kids, their teachers and families and to the people of Aliağa.

Tonnes of packaging wastes have been collected until today and many students have been reached by collaborating with primary and secondary schools as a part of this project. Project teams have also organized trainings for the students in order to increase their awareness for the environment and to ensure that they adopt the importance of parsing out and recycling the wastes to protect the environment and natural resources.
